TAKUMI Started Licensing “GT4”
TAKUMI’s Third Generation 3D Graphics Accelerator IP with Significant Performance Enhancement

May 10, 2011, Tokyo ? TAKUMI Corporation (“TAKUMI”) [Head Office: 4-3-6 Shiba, Minato-ku, Tokyo, President and CEO: Osamu Shigenami] announced today that the company started licensing the new 3D graphics accelerator IP “GT4”, conformant to the standard graphics API ? OpenGL ES1.1.

GT4 comes with significantly enhanced effective rendering performance compared with a series of the silicon-proven TAKUMI 3D IPs including “GP”, “GT” and “G2”, taking on the basic architecture of TAKUMI’s third generation IPs, GV330 (OpenVG1.1) and GV550 (OpenVG1.1/OpenGL ES1.1 hybrid) to enable smooth display of such 3D graphics applications as GUI (and 3D maps) with higher display resolution.

Key features of GT4 includes:
 1. Higher 3D performance ? maximum of 10M triangles per second
 2. Maximum bus utilization with optimized rendering algorithm ? dramatically enhanced effective
     drawing performance
 3. Larger texture support ? up to 8K by 8K
 4. Unique features including image filters for better GUI expression
 5. Optional high speed modules ? optimized performance/size selection

“GT4 comes with the same 3D features and performance as GV550 released last month, and with GT4, customers now are able to select dedicated OpenGL ES1.1 IP from our third generation IPs well-accepted in the market”, says Hiroyuki Nitta, TAKUMI Head of R&D. “Embedded system customers are facing challenging selection of the best combination of GPU features, performance and size under given system and application requirements. TAKUMI is continuously committed to making the needs-fitting product propositions by enhancing the GSHARK-TAKUMI lineup as well as the scalabilities with IP-unique high speed module options to provide the best solutions for these customers.”
